Location and Facilities

Olive Medical Centre is located at Suite 2, 599 Ross River Road, Kirwan, at the junction of Bamford Lane and Ross River Road.

Access to the medical Centre is via Bamford Lane. We have ample car park with 2 disabled parks right outside the front door.  Our Consulting rooms are fitted with state of the art equipment, while our services prove handy for your entire general healthcare needs. Our practice aims to provide comprehensive and coordinated healthcare services.  Our doctors  are independent clinicians who are responsible for all decisions regarding patient medical treatment and healthcare.

We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 6:00 pm and,  Saturday 09:00 am to 01:00 pm.

We offer booked appointments with all of our GPs every day of the week. New Patients and Visitors to Townsville are welcome.

Walk In Clinic

All walk-in patients are welcome. Our  walk-in system is designed to create easy access to our valued patients.

We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 6:00 pm and,  Saturday 09:00 am to 01:00 pm.

Please phone 07 4799 1600 for an appointment.  Standard appointments last up to 15 minutes.  If you need an extended consultation, please request this when booking an appointment. For Emergencies, please dial 000.

Fees

Olive Medical Centre is now a Mixed-billing practice.
Medicare rebates no longer cover the costs to allow us to continue providing you and your family with good quality medical care. Instant claiming of the rebate is available.

Bulk billing and Private billing services as follows:

Bulk Billing Services

  • Children 0-11 years of age.
  • Patients with concession cards (DVA Gold, Pension Concession, health Care and Commonwealth Seniors Cards).
  • Chronic Disease Management Plan.
  • Health Checks (715, 45-49, 75+, Disability).

All treatment room surgical procedures attract private fees


Some services do not attract Medicare rebates. Private fees are charged.

Private Fee Payment is required on the day of the consultation and can be made by Cash or EFTPOS (Visa or MasterCard, excluding Diners cards). If you require any of such services, please ask when making the appointment.

The Private services include:

  • Pre-employment medicals
  • Urine Drug and alcohol screening
  • Medicals including Driving, Boxing, Flying
  • Work cover consultation
  • Telehealth Consultations
  • Mental Health Treatment Plans
  • All Legal Medical Requests / Reports Paperwork and Insurance Paperwork
In the interest of better health care, repeat prescriptions and specialist referrals will not be given without patient-doctor contact. 

Sickness Certificates will not be issued unless a doctor has been consulted in relation to that illness.

Telephone Policy

Most issues are best dealt with in consultation with your Doctor and he/she will endeavour to take your call where practicable.

At times, your Doctor may be attending to other patients and may need to return your call.

Our Centre participates in state/territory reminder systems which inform/remind you of recurring healthcare issues such as annual check ups, care plans and immunisations.

Please advise reception staff if you do not wish to receive reminders. Patients will be contacted for recall where clinically indicated.
